Growth partner for start-ups

By | Branding, Case Study, Digital

Business challenge

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted plans and changed priorities, and at the same time has seen true entrepreneurial spirit; meaning a series of new business ventures have popped up and are growing successfully.

One such start-up is Scanafy – who are bringing temperature reading technology to venues, sports stadia and the hospitality industry post-COVID lockdown.

Working with a start-up is something that we at OnBrand relish. It’s the chance to fundamentally shape a marketing strategy, with customer insight at the heart to solve a business problem.

Scanafy needed to be market-ready and most importantly, wanted to ensure their brand reflected the nature of their product and have a credible, confident approach.

Strategy

Launching a start-up is an exciting process, but making it look and feel right comes from planning and taking the time to really understand the product, its audience and how it should be perceived by others.

To help new business owners on this journey we have developed a methodology and brand discovery workshop that channels passions and ambitions into strong credentials, values, a mission statement and a marketing purpose.

We worked with Scanafy to evolve the brand and language they had already developed including:-

  • Reviewed existing logo, colour palette and all brand tools
  • Developed  their mission, values and purposes, so there was a clear written articulation of this
  • Looked at the language and semiotics of the brand

Solution and outputs

Following the brand workshop, we then developed a marketing strategy with staged launch recommendations including a new website, a pdf sales information leaflet and additional branded, printed collateral to get their business market-ready.

Richard Costa, from Scanafy told us:

“Daniel and his team were proactive, and moved very fast to ensure we had the tools we needed to grow our business, and we’re delighted with the results of their work. We are in continued discussions with them about social media, and paid ad campaigns for lead generation”

Helping St Albans Businesses Beat The Pandemic

By | Case Study, Digital

There may be a global pandemic but here at OnBrand we are constantly looking for creative solutions to help our customers through the challenges, and navigating many into a new online world by developing cost-efficient digital services to businesses.

We wanted to share some fantastic work the OnBrand team have been up to in the last 6 months:

  • We are working with Waterers Menswear on their brand positioning and social media, and have just launched their new website last week:  https://waterers-menswear.co.uk/
  • We have also created lockdown e-commerce services for a Radlett based caterer who was taking orders via WhatsApp/text message and needed a much better platform: Adam Nathan Catering, https://adamnathancatering.com/
  • For local eco nappy manufacturer based in St Albans, Mama Bamboo, we have updated their Shopify payment portal, homepage design and digital advertising campaigns on https://www.mamabamboo.com/
  • Not ignoring B2B professional services, we have updated branding, new business materials and website design for Harpenden based HR experts https://www.practicalchangepartners.com/
  • We are in the process of creating a brand new tiling website for the owner of Verulam and Ebberns Tiles – all to be revealed shortly to give them a new e-commerce channel, as they currently miss out during lockdown scenarios with the showrooms having to close down

We have also supported numerous local walk-ins and enquiries, totalling around 30 different proposals in the last 3 months!

Right now, we are looking at how we can support Sustainable St Albans by using our experience in retail to create window displays and decals for local independent businesses, as well as providing downloadable Christmas decorations to local parents and communities to display.

We thought this might give you a real-life flavour of how OnBrand have been steadily helping out and invite local businesses to get in touch to see how we can support you and your business moving forward.

A make-over for Aylesham Shopping Centre

By | Case Study, Digital

The foundations

It’s always good to listen. Not only to clients, but also to their audience. After all, they are the ones who drive the footfall and web visits. And that’s exactly what we did when it came to the
Aylesham shopping centre in Peckham.

The centre had a website and a logo that just didn’t appeal to the current audience. Trying to find information about the centre was also like trying to find a lost needle in a virtual haystack. They knew something had to change, so they called on us to give their branding a shake-up.

A lesson in make-overs

We know how important it is for a community shopping centre to have the support of its local people. So we decided to combine our skills with their feedback. They told us they wanted the new website to reflect their community.

The highlight(er)

From experience we also knew it was essential that customers could easily find centre opening hours, and if the stores at the centre have any offers available. As a result we decided to make this the foundations of the site.

To bring the centre up to date, we also worked on a new logo, to make it current, clean and modern. This branding was reflected throughout the whole site.

And of course, we didn’t ignore the community feedback, adding in a news page and making sure we shouted about about art installations.

The final brush up

The website was a success, not only visually, but also from an SEO perspective. It went from having a zero web presence to appearing in the top 5 of the google search results in under 3 months.

And we also got that all important pat on the back from the client who told us: ‘The site looks great and is very informative. Much thanks to all of the team that have helped put this together.’

We can’t grumble with that!

Creating a community

By | Audio, Case Study, Digital, Events, Shopping Centres, Social

The Baytree Shopping Centre has been a crucial part of the town centre for Brentwood shoppers for a number of years, with its wide range of stores surrounding a central café hub and thriving fitness centre on the second floor.

The centre management recognised the importance of captivating the local community and wanted their shopper to have a better shopping experience, both on and offline.

Focusing on smarter marketing

In order to grow its reputation as the heart of shopping in Brentwood, the centre management team identified that, in order to achieve this, they would need to seek out a marketing agency.

OnBrand were thrilled to be appointed in January 2018 as the outsourced marketing agency for the Baytree Centre.  Specialising in smart marketing using customer knowledge, OnBrand creates and delivers the Baytree Centre marketing strategy across all channels: digital, social, audio and events.

Working very closely with Dan Foley, the Baytree Centre Manager, OnBrand delivers a ‘joined-up’ approach to marketing.

Our experience-led marketing programme covers all touchpoints on the shopper journey:  from poster advertising space to email marketing, PR and social media engagement, to excite customers with competitions and events.

‘We’ve seen a significant increase in our online presence, developed encouraging relationships with a number of our retailers who help support our marketing activities and held a number of successful events which received positive customer feedback’  – Dan Foley, Centre Manager

Delivering successful campaigns

Since working with the Baytree Shopping Centre, OnBrand has delivered a number of thriving community engaging campaigns with success stories across all marketing channels:

  1. Valentine’s Day social media saw a rise of 56% engagement during February thanks to our event, online competition and retailer offer activity
  2. Pre-promotion of our Mothers’ Day and Easter Activities drove April Facebook followers up by 300%, as well as increasing our reach by 150% talking to over 5,000 local shoppers
  3. Dedicated April Twitter activity saw page impressions grow by nearly 4,000, reaching over 17,000 in one month, an all-time high for this channel

Building the future customer experience

With exciting developments coming soon to the centre, we are delighted to be collaborating on the 2019/20 marketing strategy for the Baytree Shopping Centre.  Our approach is to provide a continued balance of customer retention & customer acquisition activities, developing a whole host of new ideas to be delivered across digital, social, audio and events.

Aegate into a brighter future

Aegate into a brighter future

The Challenge

Aegate’s website had been developed without much thought into their audience, design, style or how effective the user experience might be. As a result, it carried too much information, which didn’t reflect the nature of the B2B marketplace they operated in, or the high quality of their service solutions.

Over time, the platform had become inflexible and the various language options had become dated and inaccurate, and it was clear that pages had been published before any final checks had been run.

The biggest problem was the most important one: the home page was crammed with information, but gave no incentive for visitors to go further into the site.

Enter OnBrand

Our dedicated team designed a new template and re-purposed existing content so it fitted well within the site. We chose a contemporary design, leading Aegate’s target audience through the site via a well organised, user friendly customer journey.

Overall, the design was revised to provide a fresh look and feel, and we provided guidance on how much content should be published to protect the core principles of the design and also rank highly for search engine optimisation.

Key Wins

  • We improved the visitor experience
  • Achieved results within Aegate’s existing platform, re-purposing content where possible
  • Presented a site that better met the needs of visitors
  • Provided a development facility that could be tested before going live
  • Remove language options but retained functionality required for European markets
  • Delivered all the above on a fixed budget

We continue to develop and amend content for Aegate’s site, as well as providing other design and email marketing services for them on a regular basis, but don’t just take our word for it . . .

What Aegate Say

“OnBrand understood the parameters they would have to work within and were able to deliver a creative design – matched with technical application – that showed a value beyond initial expectations. The website presents Aegate in a more appealing and accurate way to customer sand stakeholders. The site continues to evolve but it certainly achieved the initial project objectives.”
Kelvin Bathe, Marketing Manager – Aegate
